Villa Lucrezia apartments complex is located in Piazza Puccini, in Florence residential area. In June 26th 1925, Florence's mayor Antonio Garbasso entitled the square to the great composer Giacomo Puccini, just only one year after his death and despite the norms of that time which limited the possibility to entitle street names before ten years from the death date. The apartments are very close and well connected to the old town, and have been derived by a careful restoration of a nineteenth-century noble palace, built by mimicking the architecture of the fifteenth century. During the Second World War, the building was requisitioned by the Germans and utilized as a headquarter. Most recently, it became the site of the Department of Floriculture of the 'University of Florence', and finally transformed into the residence for rental Villa Lucrezia. Villa Lucrezia has fourteen apartments and a pleasant courtyard where guests can park their car safely. Nearby you can find bars and restaurants, two supermarkets and numerous businesses. The nearby square hosts a daily market. Villa Lucrezia can be easily reached from central station Santa Maria Novella by buses 17, 29, 30 and 35 (bus stop at Piazza Puccini). |
